Business Class Profiles: Kenya Airways Premier World

As Kenya Airways turns 38 years old, the airline is offering a brand new experience for guests. With brand new aircraft making it the youngest fleet in Africa, a new home at Terminal 1A, spacious Pride and Simba Lounges and world class hospitality, the airline is positioning itself as ‘The Pride of Africa’.

Premier World Business Class

With Premier World, you get to stretch out in a state-of-the-art flat bed, allowing you to sleep in a horizontal position with comfy pillows and warm, soft blankets. The product is available on Boeing 787 Dreamliner, Boeing 777-300ER and Boeing 777-200ER aircraft.

The 787 Dreamliner’s Business Class seats are arranged in a 2-2-2 configuration meaning 66% of passengers have direct aisle access. The first three rows are located in the forward cabin, while rows 4 and 5 are located on the other side of a small galley. Upholstered in an earthy, camel-coloured fabric giving a nod to the heritage of the country, the seats slide out to join the ottoman in front, converting into a fully flat bed. Between the two seats is a reading light, as well as controls and tray table in the central console. There’s a convenience bar in the doorway of the Business Class cabin, so you can help yourself to drinks and snacks during the flight.

IFE

During the flight you can sit back and enjoy a multi-channel in-flight entertainment system, with individual audio and video entertainment. If you’d prefer to catch up on work, there are convenient in-seat power outlets so you can keep your laptop and electronic devices charged up. Row 1 has pull out screens, while the other rows have large, seat back screens.

Amenity Kit

The amenity kit comes in a stylish black case, with a shoehorn, toothbrush and toothpaste, ear plugs, comb, moisturiser, lip balm and other goodies.

Food and Drink

As a Business Class guest you’re served nouvelle cuisine on special dining settings to make you feel like you’re dining in a world-class restaurant. Upon boarding the aircraft you’ll be given some nuts and a glass of bubbly before take-off, along with a hot towel service.  The menu features a variety of options, including ‘health options’ rich in nutrients, vitamins, minerals and fibre, with the flavours ranging from spicy to provencal. There’s also a choice of wines, as well as a full bar service with spirits, fruit juices and soft drinks. If you’re on a flight that includes Afternoon Tea, you’ll be offered a selection of mini cakes and sandwiches.

At The Airport

Before you fly, you can relax and take a shower in the two lounges located at Terminal A second floor, which have a total capacity of 315 guests. Designed with the African landscape in mind, the Pride Lounge has textures and colours that draw influences from Africa’s coastal, Savannah and forest landscapes. It boasts a fully equipped business centre with high-speed Wi-Fi, universal outlets and Samsung tabs, as well as an informal seating area, a dining area, family area, napping area and smoking room.

The Simba lounge, located on the other end of the terminal, is a celebration of African heritage and the most prominent feature is the “melting pot” or “manyatta” reminiscent of the massai hut, where people would sit around a fire and tell stories at the end of the day. Meanwhile the modern VIP room offers a space for VIP guests to enjoy some privacy.
