First Class Profiles : Qantas First Class Product

With the announcement of the opening of a new Qantas First Class Lounge at Los Angeles airport, you might be curious to know what First Class with the Aussie airline is like. Available on the A380 and B747s, the Qantas International First suite offers a high level of comfort with wide, flat-bed seats and you’ll be whisked to the airport in a complimentary chauffeur driven car. Dedicated hosts, complimentary pampering treatments and Neil Perry-designed menus are just some of the countless other luxuries you can look forward to.

The Cabin

The A380 is configured with 14 First Class seats in a 1-1-1 layout. While some airlines choose to have the First Class cabin on the upper deck of the double-decker aircraft, Qantas has its First Class seats on the main deck at the front of the plane. The airline also upgraded its 747-400 to include the A380 offerings. First Class can be found at the front of the B747-400 on flights QF11 and QF12 between Sydney and Los Angeles and QF93 and QF94 between Melbourne and Los Angeles.

The Seat

As with many First Class products, you get a seat that converts into a fully flat bed. Using the controls in your arm rest, you can move your seat, leg rest and lumbar support from a relaxed position to a fully flat bed measuring up to 212 cm on the A380 and 200 cm on the B747. If you’re feeling sleepy, Qantas’ Bedding Down service features pillows, blankets, a duvet and a sheepskin mattress so you can get nice and cosy.

Inflight Entertainment

The inflight entertainment system is equipped with 17 inch touch screens on the A380 and 10.4 inch touch screen TVs on the B747s. You can pop your noise cancelling headset on, sit back and watch a range of movies and TV shows on demand. The system is also loaded with CD albums, moving maps, interactive games and a selection of radio channels. If you’d like to make a phone call you can dial home using your personal telephone and you can plug in your laptop using the 110v AC power outlets available at every seat.

Amenities

Of course one of the nice perks of flying First Class is some of the little lotions and potions you receive. You’ll enjoy luxurious SK-II products, including skincare, toiletries and an eye mask inside a specially designed amenity kit. In addition you’ll be supplied with a gift wrapped in black satin ribbon of a 100% cotton jersey two piece charcoal grey sleepsuit, a pair of slippers and a pair of black socks.

Dining

Qantas have created a restaurant-style dining experience with meals designed by celebrity chef Neil Perry, prepared on board and made to order with the freshest ingredients. Choose from the a la carte menu, or be surprised with the eight-course tasting menu. If you’re not sure which wine to choose, you can ask one of the ‘Sommeliers in the Sky’, who can advise you which pairing will be best with your meal. Qantas won Best First Class Sparkling, Best Presented First Class Wine List and Best Overall Cellar at the Cellars in the Sky Awards 2012.

To and From the Airport

It’s not just on the plane that you’ll be treated like a VIP. A complimentary Chauffeur Drive service ensures you’ll be whisked to the airport in style, and at Sydney and Melbourne airports, you’ll be greeted at the curb. Your First Host will take you through the dedicated check-in area and from there you’ll be fast-tracked through immigration to the award-winning First Lounge. You’ll also have a dedicated boarding lane at the gate, which you can use to board the aircraft at any time you like during the boarding process.
