Air France Returns to Tehran

Air France resumed services between Paris and Iran last Sunday after an eight year gap. The airline first launched flights to Tehran on 29 April 1946, serving the Iranian capital once every two weeks by DC-3 and then by DC-4, but stopped services back in 2008.

The airline now offers three weekly flights to Tehran from Paris Charles-de-Gaulle, operated by an Airbus A340 and Airbus A330 aircraft.

Frédéric Gagey, Chairman and CEO of Air France, said Iran is currently experiencing a major economic boom: “With our new direct flights between Paris and Tehran, we are supporting the country's opening up to the rest of the world, and also capturing an important source of growth on our long-haul network. I am delighted to offer our customers the possibility to join Tehran from destinations around the world via our powerful hub at Paris-Charles de Gaulle."

Flight AF738 departs from Paris-Charles de Gaulle at 12:20 on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, landing in Tehran-Imam Khomeini at 20:20. The return flight, A4755, leaves Tehran on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays at 9:15, touching down in Paris at 12:40.

On board, passengers can enjoy exceptional dishes in the Business, Premium Economy and Economy cabins. Passengers flying in Business Class from Paris-Charles de Gaulle can enjoy tasty new dishes by chef Yves Camdeborde, who is known for his innovative design of French haute cuisine. Chef Camdeborde’s eclectic range of dishes are examples of a new trend called ‘bistronomy’ - a mix of bistro cuisine and classic gastronomy. In all cabins, customers can also order a meal without pork or alcohol when they book their flight.

On 18 April 2016, the Company also opened a new Air France ticket office for its customers in Tehran, where they’ll be able to receive assistance regarding their journey. The office will be open from 08:30 to 17:00 Saturday to Wednesday, and from 08:30 to 14:00 on Thursday. Persian and English speaking agents are available to assist customers with their departure and arrival formalities and when they have connections. During the trip, flight announcements are also made in Persian.

With two new cities added each month, Tehran is one of the 91 destinations available with Air France.
