Emirates Reveals Spacious 777 Seats

Emirates has unveiled more spacious seats on its Boeing 777-200LRs. Each plane has been refurbished to feature a brand new Business Class cabin with wider seats arranged in a 2-2-2 configuration. 

The airline has invested over US$150 million to refurbish the 10 existing 777-200LR aircraft in its fleet, the first of which will operate to Fort Lauderdale from March 6th. The rest will be updated over the course of the year. 

The newly refurbished Emirates 777-200LR aircraft is set in a two-class configuration which offers 38 Business Class seats and 264 seats in Economy Class.  

The new Business Class seats are in the same design and shape of Emirates' latest lie-flat seats revealed in November, featuring a champagne coloured finish and diamond stitch pattern.

The difference is that they are now two inches wider, allowing customers to stretch out that little bit more. 

Each Business Class seat has been designed to look like the interior of a Mercedes S-Class car and can recline into a fully flat sleeping position. Seats also have touchscreen controls, several personal lighting options, privacy panels between seats, a shoe stowage area, footrest and a personal mini-bar.

It's not just the seats that have been updated: Emirates decided to remove the overhead bins in the centre of the cabin to create an drier and more spacious feel inside the aircraft. The cabin boasts electronic windows and the largest personal in-flight entertainment (IFE) screens available in Business Class, measuring 23 inches wide.

The new Business Class cabin also features a new social area, which is completely unique to the Boeing 777-200LR fleet. It's not quite as exciting as the onboard lounge on the Emirates A380, but it does feature a mini space featuring snacks such as crisps, sandwiches and fruit, as well as beverages for customers to help themselves to during the flight.

As with other aircraft in the fleet, Emirates has retained the signature Ghaf tree motif, which is considered the national tree of the United Arab Emirates.

The refurbished 777-200LR aircraft is planned for several destinations including Emirates’ most recently announced destination – Santiago, Chile.
