Etihad Brings Healthy Eating to Premium Cabins

Meal on flights can often feel a bit unhealthy and loaded with carbs, but not any more. Etihad has partnered with the Department of Health for Abu Dhabi to introduce a new healthy menu for premium cabins and lounges in Abu Dhabi.

Etihad Healthy Food

The Department of Health has established a new programme called 'Weqaya', which means 'prevention', encouraging people to eat a more healthy balanced diet. From April, Etihad will introduce a range of Weqaya dishes in First and Business Class on long long-haul and ultra-long haul outbound flights from Abu Dhabi, as well as First and Business Class lounges at Abu Dhabi International Airport.

No details of the exact dishes have been released yet but it's good to see airlines focusing on the wellbeing of passengers. Etihad is also committed to the health of its employees too; last year the airline introduced Weqaya food items to restaurants and cafes in its headquarters.

Mohammad Al Bulooki, Executive Vice President Commercial, Etihad Airways, said: “Etihad consistently engages with its guests to better understand their needs, and then delivers products and services that exceeds their expectations. The addition of Weqaya menu items further enhances our F&B offering, and is a testimony to our airline’s commitment to continue to provide premium products to our guests.”
