Qantas Rebuilds Sydney Business Lounge

Qantas has announced that its Sydney International Business lounge will undergo a multimillion dollar rebuild, involving a completely new design, 30% more seating and a new dining experience. 

The flagship Sydney International Business Lounge will feature an interior inspired by Sydney's unique lifestyle and geography, along with a Neil Perry dining experience. Features will include a full service bar, generous business facilities and high speed Wi-Fi, a dedicated family zone, luxury facilities and service experience inspired by Sofitel. Access is available to customers travelling in the Business cabin, Gold Qantas Frequent Flyers and above, Qantas Club members, Emirates Gold Skyward Members and above, and those with oneworld tier benefits.

Construction is scheduled to commence in the third quarter of this calendar year and will be completed in stages so that passengers can still use the lounge. The completion date is targeted for the end of 2019. 

Creative concept of the lounge will be developed by David Caon in collaboration with Australian architecture firm Bates Smart. David Caon is the principal designer of the Qantas Dreamliner interior as well as the airline’s lounges in Singapore and Hong Kong, the Chairmans Lounge in Brisbane and the upcoming International Transit Lounge in Perth. 

Qantas Group CEO Alan Joyce said:

“Our Business lounge in Sydney is one of the most visited on the international network, so we look forward to upgrading the space with a completely new design and a lot more capacity,” said Mr Joyce.

“Our customers have told us that ample space, privacy and ambience are what they value most in their lounge experience, so the overall design of the new lounge will be tailored with this in mind.”

In addition to the Sydney rebuild, new lounges are currently under construction at Melbourne Domestic Airport as well as in Perth Airport in preparation of the inaugural direct Perth to London service beginning 24 March 2018.
