Virgin Atlantic Offers Non-Stop Flights to Barbados

Virgin Atlantic has launched non-stop flights from London Heathrow to Barbados, becoming the only airline to offer a direct flight to the Caribbean island. The route will operate twice weekly on Tuesdays and Saturdays until April 2018 using an Airbus A330-300.  

The A330 has a three class configuration with 31 Upper Class seats, 48 Premium Economy seats and 185 Economy seats. Passengers flying Business Class can take a complimentary chauffeur-driven car to Heathrow airport and will arrive at the airline's Upper Class wing, which features dedicated check-in and fast-track security. 

This new seasonal service means that Virgin Atlantic now offers up to 11 Barbados flights per week from the three UK airports of London Gatwick, Manchester and now Heathrow. 

Shai Weiss, the airline’s CCO, commented: “The Caribbean has always been a core market for Virgin Atlantic and we’re excited to be offering more choice to our customers with the option of flying from Heathrow, Gatwick or Manchester direct to Barbados.”

The Heathrow-Barbados route is Virgin Atlantic’s fifth new service to launch in 2017 – the airline launched flights to Seattle, Boston, New York and San Francisco earlier this year. 

Earlier this year Virgin Atlantic began retrofitting its A330s with a new Upper Class cabin that is identical to the one found on the airline's Boeing 787 Dreamliner. The new Business Class cabin features new mood lighting to aid relaxation, direct aisle access at every seat, 16 new centre overhead lockers and extra space for hanging coats. The seats have been designed to look like armchairs, furnished in espresso leather, and flip over into fully flat beds at the touch of a button. Each seat also has a 11.1” smart touchscreen monitor, a Panasonic Touch Screen Handset, and USB hubs so passengers can charge electronics.
