Lufthansa’s third A380 superjumbo has taken off to the Chinese capital of Beijing. The launch of the Lufthansa A380 flight also coincided with the commencement of Emirates A380 services between Dubai and Manchester.
Lufthansa’s Airbus A380, named Peking, entered scheduled service on September 1st, just one week after being delivered to the airline.
Flight LH720 will depart from Frankfurt for Beijing at 17.20 hours and land at 8:30 hours local time. The return flight (LH 721) will leave Beijing at 10.30 hours and arrive at Frankfurt the same day at 14.30 hours.
The A380 service will initially operate once per week but Lufthansa aims to gradually increase frequency of the service to Beijing.
On 12 September Lufthansa will launch flights to its third A380 destination, Johannesburg. The city will be served twice weekly, on Thursdays and Sundays.
On the Lufthansa A380 there are 8 First Class Seats and 98 Business Class seats.
The Lufthansa First Class cabin features oak veneer surfaces, sheet brass, white and grey wall elements, brownish-grey carpeting and pale grey curtains.
The brand new Lufthansa First Class cabin offers eight flat-bed seats plus separate luxurious changing and lavatory areas, as well as enhanced personal space and storage options. The generously sized seats can be adjusted gradually to countless positions and can even be turned into complete beds upon request. Passengers can enjoy a peaceful, quiet atmosphere created by sound insulation beneath the carpet which makes footsteps in the cabin almost inaudible. The automatic air humidification system ensures that the First Class cabin maintains an especially pleasant humidity, so no more dry skin. The cabin crew are available round the clock to take care of passengers’ personal requests, including what time they would like meals to be served.
The two-metre long Business Class seats equipped with massage function have a clever ‘shape system’ meaning they can be cleverly adjusted to the passenger’s position. The spacious cabin on the upper deck provides plenty of storage and shelf space as well as roomy baggage compartments.
