United and Continental are due to merge to create the leading U.S airline, and to go along with this they’re getting a new look.
United and Continental have introduced new livery, branding and logo as a result of their proposed merger.
The two airlines have unveiled a “refinement” to their branding in the lead-up to the launch of the new global airline as a result of the merger between the two companies.
When United and Continental combine, there will be a new logo and appearance to the aircraft. The carriers have distributed an image of what one of the Boeing 777s will look like with the new livery.
The new logo shows the combined company’s brand name “United” in capital letters in a custom sans-serif font, along with Continental’s global mark which has been present since 1991.
A press release distributed by the two carriers says the new design will adopt Continental’s livery, colours and design, including its blue-gold-white globe image on the tail, combined with the new-style UNITED name on the fuselage.
The press release adds: “Both airlines have earned strong brand recognition in one of the world’s most visible and highly competitive businesses. The new visual identity builds upon the significant value of each airline’s current brand, while advancing the combined airline’s future brand image.”
The aim of the merger is to launch a new company with greater financial strength, meaning it can invest in globally competitive products, upgrade technology, plus refurbish and replace older aircraft. The two airlines plan to implement the best practices of both companies to enable the highest levels of customer service and satisfaction. The airlines aim to have a modern, fuel efficient fleet and the best new aircraft order book among major US network carriers.
The frequent flyer program that will come out of the merger will provide opportunities for customers to earn and redeem more miles in more places worldwide with more partners, including Star Alliance partners. The new frequent flyer program will combine valuable features of Mileage Plus and OnePass, plus adding new program innovations and benefits.
